Industry in Buffalo, New York

Although major steel production in the city no longer exists, Buffalo and the surrounding area was long involved in railroad commerce, steel, and automobile production. There are many large companies within Buffalo, as well as the several smaller steel mills remain in operation. Ford maintains operation of its Buffalo Stamping Plant south of the city, and Chevrolet has two plants. There are also still facilities operated by the Trico company there.

The largest sports-licensed headwear company in the United States - New Era Cap Company, is based in Buffalo. Inbev, the world's largest producer of beer has their American headquarters in Buffalo, and Labbatt moved its US headquarters to Buffalo.

Buffalo has increasingly become a center for bioinformatics and human genome research.
